		Welcome to Our Farm

			Welcome to Ravenwood Alpacas, owned by Derek and Colleen Bower. Our farm is located in northern Alberta, Canada, approximately 65 miles north of Edmonton and 15 miles south of Athabasca, just off Highway 2.


			We own a quarter section (160 acres) of land. This allows us to produce our own hay and gives us plenty of room to expand our pastures.
In 1999 we purchased our first alpacas and since then have enjoyed watching our herd grow. Our animals range in color from white to fawn and medium brown. We have a variety of alpacas, with full Chileans, Peruvian/Chilean and Bolivian/Chilean crosses. We take great care in our breeding program, which has produced show quality animals from the beginning. We currently own two Grand Champion females and are looking forward with anticipation to their offspring. Our alpacas are bred for confirmation, good bone structure , crimp, density, luster and fineness of fleece.

	Working with and caring for these gentle creatures has been a learning experience with many pleasant rewards. Naturally shy, they can easily be trained to halter once you have gained their trust. Their curious nature provides plenty of entertainment and enjoyment. Every spring we look forward to the new crias and through the year we attend numerous shows. We are looking forward to the coming year. The industry is constantly growing and the future looks promising. Each year as our herd expands, it also reaches new heights in quality.
