Why Alpacas?

¬ These gentle creatures, with their quiet nature and large expressive eyes, can capture any heart. Because their size ranges from 120 to 180 pounds and they stand 30 to 40 inches at the shoulder, they can be easily managed and trained.

¬ Alpacas don't require large grazing space, and can be easily maintained on an acreage. Part of the camelid family, alpacas use less water than normal livestock.

¬ Alpaca fiber is prized for its silky, soft handle. Once considered a luxury, it is now becoming more available in the marketplace.

¬ Alpaca fiber contains no lanolin as found in sheep fleece.

¬ The strength and resilience of alpaca fiber makes it an ideal, long wearing end product.

¬ High insulation properties of the fiber is due to the microscopic air pockets it contains. Garments made of wool, while still being a light weight product.

¬ Found in 22 colors, alpaca can be used as its natural color, blended into varying shades or easily dyed.

¬ Garments produced from alpaca are very durable. They retain their shape over the years and don't easily pill or tear and are virtually static free.
